Category: SNMP Framework

Description: Manages SNMP agent community strings, access control, and trap destination on Dasan devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DASAN-SNMP-MIB?

DASAN-SNMP-MIB is a vendor MIB for Dasan Network Solutions (Dasan Zhone) networking equipment, covering the device's own SNMP agent configuration -- specifically trap host destinations, community strings, and trap delivery protocol settings. It exposes configuration and control data for where and how the device sends SNMP traps, including trap host address, port, protocol, source address, and associated community strings, plus a control table for adding or removing trap host entries. Rather than general hardware/software health, this MIB is about monitoring and managing the device's own network-management/notification subsystem, confirming that trap destinations are correctly configured so that other hardware and software fault alarms actually reach the intended management station. It depends on core SNMP framework conventions (SNMPv2-MIB / trap semantics) that it extends with vendor-specific control objects. It is deployed on Dasan switches, routers, or access/aggregation devices where administrators configure and audit trap forwarding to network management systems. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the DASAN-SNMP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DASAN-SNMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Dasan (Dasan Zhone) switches, access, and aggregation devices

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check dsSnmpTrapHostTable entries -- dsSnmpTrapHostAddress, dsSnmpTrapHostPort, dsSnmpTrapHostCommunity, and dsSnmpTrapProtocol -- to confirm traps are being sent to the correct NMS with the correct community string, and could use dsSnmpTrapHostControlTable (dsSnmpTrapHostControlRequest, dsSnmpTrapHostControlType) to add a new trap destination. A misconfigured dsSnmpTrapHostAddress or wrong community string would explain why expected fault traps never arrive at the monitoring station.

What Can Be Monitored

  • configured trap host addresses and ports
  • trap community strings
  • trap delivery protocol
  • trap source address
  • trap host add/remove control status
