Organization: Dasan Co., Ltd.
Last Updated: 2004-07-15
Category: DASAN Networks, DSL / Broadband Access
Description: Monitors ADSL line statistics, attenuation, and training status on Dasan DSL access multiplexers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DASAN-ADSL-MIB?
This MIB is a DASAN Networks proprietary extension to the standard ADSL-LINE-MIB, adding vendor-specific objects to ADSL DSL Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) line and channel tables. It exposes DSL line configuration (line coding type, transmit configuration, transceiver capability) and extended per-line data such as UTOPIA Layer-2 addressing and transceiver capability versus actual negotiated rates. Monitoring focus is on DSL physical-layer hardware status: transceiver capability negotiation, line coding type, and transmit configuration reveal whether a subscriber's DSL line is synced correctly or experiencing training/attenuation issues. It is explicitly stated as an extension to the standard ADSL-LINE-MIB (RFC 2662), extending its Atuc/Atur physical, channel, and performance-data tables. Deployment context is DASAN ADSL DSLAM line cards delivering broadband DSL service to subscribers in carrier access networks. Engineers can download the DASAN-ADSL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DASAN-ADSL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- DASAN Networks ADSL DSLAM line card
- DSL access multiplexer
Monitoring Examples
Poll dsAdslLineExtnTable (accessed via dsAdslLineExtnAction) for dsAdslLineExtnTransAtucCap versus dsAdslLineExtnTransAtucActual to detect a subscriber line negotiating a lower rate than its capability suggests, and check dsDslSystemLineCodingType and dsDslSystemLineTxCfg for line configuration mismatches. These extend the standard adslLineTable/adslAtucPhysTable objects from ADSL-LINE-MIB with DASAN-specific detail.
What Can Be Monitored
- DSL line coding type
- transmit configuration
- transceiver capability vs. actual negotiated rate
- UTOPIA L2 addressing
- per-line training/status
