Category: Hardware Inventory

Description: Monitors node-level system status and configuration for Cyan, Inc. optical networking platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CYAN-NODE-MIB?

CYAN-NODE-MIB is a Cyan, Inc. (packet-optical transport vendor, later Ciena) proprietary MIB reporting node-level identification and location inventory for Cyan Z-Series packet-optical platforms. Its objects cover admin/operational state and qualifier, asset tag, base MAC address, equipment bay, city/country/GPS latitude-longitude, current time zone, console-port DHCP flag, node identifier/name/ID, MAC block size, manufacturing CLEI/ECI code, module ID/part number/revision/serial number, and nationalization setting. As a hardware-inventory/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm a node's physical location and operational state across a distributed Cyan (Ciena) network. It is deployed on Cyan, Inc. (Ciena) Z-Series packet-optical platforms. Engineers can download the CYAN-NODE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CYAN-NODE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cyan, Inc. (Ciena) Z-Series packet-optical platforms

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks cyanNodeOperState and cyanNodeCity/cyanNodeLatitude to confirm the operational state and physical location of a specific node in a distributed Cyan (Ciena) network.

What Can Be Monitored
