What Is CYAN-TC-MIB?
CYAN-TC-MIB is a textual-conventions module from Cyan, Inc., an optical packet-transport vendor (later Cyan/Blue Planet, acquired by Ciena), defining enumerated types and shared data structures used across Cyan's family of optical transport MIBs. It exposes no monitoring data by itself; instead it standardizes how concepts like alarm severity, administrative/operational state, or entity identifiers are typed. Actual hardware/software status monitoring -- uptime, temperature, alarm conditions, port/card status -- is performed by the other Cyan MIBs that import these type definitions, not by this module. It is designed to be imported by sibling CYAN-* MIB modules and follows conventional SNMPv2-TC textual-convention practice, so engineers typically keep the CYAN-TC-MIB reference on hand when interpreting alarm-severity or state values reported by those sibling modules. It is deployed as a supporting module wherever Cyan Z-Series packet-optical transport platforms are managed via SNMP in service-provider networks.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CYAN-TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cyan Z-Series optical/packet transport platforms
Monitoring Examples
This module contains only TEXTUAL-CONVENTION definitions, with no sample_objects and no runtime tables provided, so nothing here is directly pollable. Other Cyan MIBs import these type definitions to consistently represent things like alarm severity or admin/operational state on a given optical port or card. No monitoring scenario is fabricated since this is a types-only support module.
