Description: Manages AUG-64 SDH administrative unit group framing for Cyan optical transport equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CYAN-AUG64-MIB?
CYAN-AUG64-MIB is a Cyan Optics MIB (per its module description, "MIB module for STS-192/AUG-64 layer") managing AUG-64 SDH Administrative Unit Group framing, corresponding to STS-192 in SONET terms, used in high-capacity optical transport equipment. It exposes a per-shelf/module/AUG64-instance table covering administrative state, description, autoinservice soak timer, operational state and qualifier, secondary service state, and the underlying STS-AUG structural mapping. For monitoring it is squarely a hardware/transport-layer status module: an operator polls it to confirm a given AUG-64 optical framing instance is operationally in-service, checking the operational state qualifier for degraded conditions and the soak timer during a controlled bring-up, which reveals failed or flapping optical transport links rather than CPU or memory metrics. It depends on SDH/SONET standard framing concepts (STS-192/AUG-64 mapping per ITU-T/ANSI optical transport standards) that it models as vendor-specific MIB objects. It is deployed on Cyan Optics (later part of Ciena) optical transport/ROADM platforms carrying high-capacity SDH traffic, where a CYAN-AUG64-MIB download equips operators to spot degraded or flapping AUG-64 optical links early.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CYAN-AUG64-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cyan Optics (Ciena) optical transport/SDH platform
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll cyanAUG64Table/cyanAUG64Entry indexed by cyanAUG64ShelfId, cyanAUG64ModuleId, and cyanAUG64AUG64Id to check cyanAUG64OperState and cyanAUG64OperStateQual, confirming a given AUG-64 instance is in-service and free of degraded qualifiers such as signal degrade or loss of frame. During a maintenance bring-up, cyanAUG64AdminState and cyanAUG64AutoinserviceSoakTimeSec would be checked to see whether the port is still in its soak/monitoring period before being declared fully in-service. The cyanAUG64SecServState would be checked for secondary service impact, and cyanAUG64StsaugStructure would be reviewed to confirm the STS-to-AUG structural mapping matches the intended circuit configuration.
What Can Be Monitored
- AUG-64 administrative state
- AUG-64 operational state and qualifier
- autoinservice soak timer
- secondary service state
- STS-AUG structural mapping
