What Is CYAN-BOSS-MIB?

CYAN-BOSS-MIB is Cyan Inc.'s (a packet-optical networking vendor) SNMP module for managing the BOSS (backplane/shelf controller) subsystem within its optical transport platforms. It exposes per-shelf hardware inventory and status objects for the backplane/shelf controller module, indexed by shelf and BOSS ID, including asset tag, base MAC address, and installed software build version. Its core value is hardware and software status monitoring: cyanBossActivestandbyState and cyanBossAdminState reveal whether a given BOSS controller is currently active or in standby (redundancy state) and administratively enabled, cyanBossActiveLed/cyanBossAlarmLed mirror the physical LED indicators for at-a-glance fault visibility, and cyanBossAutoinserviceSoakTimeSec and cyanBossCurrCyanSwBuildVersions expose provisioning/software-version state used to confirm the controller booted with expected firmware.
