What Is EKINOPS-MGNT2-NMS-MIB?

EKINOPS-MGNT2-NMS-MIB extends the Ekinops management framework with the objects an NMS uses to retrieve and correlate active alarms from an Ekinops 360 network element, following a telecom-style alarm model of probable cause, object class, and severity. It exposes a live active-alarm table plus supporting objects identifying the source board, port type/number, and performance-monitoring source associated with each alarm. This is squarely a fault/status-monitoring MIB: mgnt2ActiveAlmSeverity and mgnt2ActiveAlmProbableCause let an NMS immediately see whether a card, port, or transmission path is in a fault condition, and mgnt2ActiveAlmBoardNumber/SourcePortNumber pinpoint exactly which hardware component is affected. It depends on the shared Ekinops management framework (EKINOPS-MGNT2-MIB for trap configuration, EKINOPS-MIB for OID registration) and follows conventions similar to telecom TMN alarm models. It is deployed on Ekinops 360 optical transport chassis in carrier and enterprise optical networks, typically polled by an EMS/NMS for real-time fault management. Engineers can download the EKINOPS-MGNT2-NMS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

An NMS polls mgnt2ActiveAlmTable/mgnt2ActiveAlmEntry to enumerate all currently active alarms, using mgnt2ActiveAlmSeverity to prioritize a major alarm and mgnt2ActiveAlmBoardNumber plus mgnt2ActiveAlmSourcePortType/SourcePortNumber to identify that, for example, port 3 on board 2 has a loss-of-signal condition. mgnt2ActiveAlmProbableCause and mgnt2ActiveAlmSpecificProblem give the coded reason for the fault, while mgnt2ActiveAlmAdditionalText carries free-form diagnostic detail. mgnt2ActiveAlmSourcePm links the alarm to a performance-monitoring counter, letting an operator correlate a fault with a degrading optical performance metric.
