What Is CXDSP-MIB?

CXDSP-MIB is an Aastra (formerly CX/Memotec) MIB managing a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) module used for voice channel processing, covering codec/companion settings and per-channel operational configuration. It exposes per-SAP (Service Access Point/voice channel) configuration including channel type, alias, companion channel alias, encoding mode (EBCDIC/ASCII), operational mode, and control state, alongside a companion unit table. For monitoring it is used to confirm each DSP voice channel/SAP is in its expected operational mode and correctly paired with its companion channel, revealing a channel stuck in an unexpected mode or an unpaired/misconfigured voice circuit — a software/channel-status concern for a voice gateway rather than physical sensor data. It depends on the underlying hardware DSP module's channel numbering and relates to companion signaling/link-layer MIBs (such as CXQLLC-MIB or CXLLCInterfaceModule-MIB) for the protocols carried over these channels. It is deployed on Aastra/CX Memotec voice/data gateway equipment performing DSP-based voice channel processing. Engineers can download the CXDSP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXDSP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Aastra/CX Memotec voice gateway with DSP module

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll dspSapTable/dspSapEntry indexed by dspSapNumber to check dspSapOperationalMode and dspSapControl for a given voice channel, confirming it is active and correctly configured, and would check dspSapAlias against dspSapCompanionAlias to verify the channel is paired with its intended companion. The dspSapType and dspSapEbcdicAsciiMode objects would be checked to confirm the channel's encoding matches the expected end-device configuration, and dspSapRowStatus would confirm the SAP row is active rather than notInService. The related dspCuTable (companion unit table) would be checked to verify companion unit associations are correctly established.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DSP voice channel operational mode
  • channel-to-companion channel pairing
  • channel encoding mode (EBCDIC/ASCII)
  • channel row status/control state
