What Is CTRON-SFPS-CALL-MIB?

CTRON-SFPS-CALL-MIB is a Cabletron (Enterasys) enterprise MIB that manages virtual-circuit call signaling on the SecureFast Packet Switch (SFPS), tracking SAP (service access point) call setup, teardown, and active call state between switch control points. It exposes a SAP table describing each call's tag/hash identifiers, its source and destination control-point (CP), the SAP value, and administrative/operational status for that call instance. For software status monitoring, sfpsSapTableOperStatus/sfpsSapTableAdminStatus show whether a given virtual-circuit call is actually connected versus configured-but-down, and sfpsSapTableStateTime shows how long the call has held that state, helping identify calls stuck in a transitional or failed state. It works together with CTRON-SFPS-BASE-MIB and CTRON-SFPS-CONN-MIB, since call setup here maps onto the connection and resource tables defined in those companion MIBs. It is deployed on Cabletron SecureFast Packet Switch devices to monitor active virtual-circuit calls within the SFPS virtual-networking fabric. Engineers can download the CTRON-SFPS-CALL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CTRON-SFPS-CALL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cabletron SecureFast Packet Switch (SFPS)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll sfpsSapTable entries and compare sfpsSapTableAdminStatus to sfpsSapTableOperStatus for a given sfpsSapTableSourceCP/sfpsSapTableDestCP pair to confirm the call between those two control points is actually up. A call showing admin status enabled but operational status down for an extended sfpsSapTableStateTime would flag a stuck or failed call setup needing attention. The sfpsSapTableTag and sfpsSapTableHash/sfpsSapTableHashIndex fields let the admin correlate a specific call instance back to the originating service request.

What Can Be Monitored

  • virtual-circuit call admin/operational status
  • call source/destination control point
  • call state duration
  • active SAP/call table entries
