What Is CTRON-SSR-SMI-MIB?
CTRON-SSR-SMI-MIB is a Cabletron Systems Structure-of-Management-Information (SMI) module that defines the enterprise OID assignments and module identity used by MIBs managing Enterasys SmartSwitch Routers (SSR) and the related Riverstone Networks RS product line, reflecting Cabletron's routing business lineage through Enterasys to Riverstone. It is a pure registration/framework module, allocating the OID space under which the actual SmartSwitch Router management MIBs - covering interfaces, routing, and hardware status - register their objects. Because it defines no scalar or table objects of its own, it plays no direct role in reporting uptime, CPU/memory, temperature, or fault data; that monitoring capability resides entirely in the SSR/RS product MIBs built on this SMI foundation. It has a structural dependency relationship with every SmartSwitch Router and Riverstone RS MIB module, all of which register beneath the OID tree this module establishes. It is deployed in networks running legacy Cabletron/Enterasys SmartSwitch Routers or Riverstone Networks RS routers, purely as the vendor's OID namespace anchor for that product line. Anyone consulting a CTRON-SSR-SMI-MIB reference should expect only enterprise registration nodes, with no pollable objects defined in the module itself.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CTRON-SSR-SMI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Enterasys SmartSwitch Routers (SSR)
- Riverstone Networks RS routers
Monitoring Examples
This module contains only SMI/enterprise OID registration constructs, with no sample data objects provided or expected - it does not itself expose pollable state. Actual monitoring of a SmartSwitch Router or Riverstone RS device (interface status, routing table health, hardware faults) would be performed via the separate SSR/RS management MIBs that register under the tree this module defines.
