What Is CT-ELS10-27-MIB?
CT-ELS10-27-MIB is a Cabletron Systems proprietary MIB for the ELS10-27, an entry-level Ethernet workgroup switch, defining per-port bridging/protocol and VLAN configuration data. It exposes protocol-related settings such as bridging mode, BPDU suppression, RIP listening, and trunking status per interface, along with VLAN membership and trunk table configuration. While primarily a configuration MIB, it supports monitoring of switch software/protocol status, confirming that spanning-tree BPDU handling, trunking negotiation, and VLAN assignments are correctly applied on each port to detect misconfigurations that would show up as connectivity or loop faults. It is layered on standard bridge MIB conventions and Cabletron's common IMPORTS structure, tying its per-port table indices to standard ifIndex values. It was deployed in small/entry-level enterprise wiring closets where Cabletron ELS10-27 switches provided basic Layer 2 switching with VLAN and trunk support. An administrator polling els10-27protoTable (indexed by els10-27protoIfIndex) can check els10-27protoBridge, els10-27protoSuppressBpdu, and els10-27protoTrunking to confirm a given port's spanning-tree and trunking behavior matches its intended role as an access or trunk port. Checking els10-27trunkTable entries by els10-27trunkIfIndex reveals which ports are configured as trunks, letting an operator spot an unexpected trunk port that could indicate a rogue switch link. Monitoring els10-27VlanConfigVlan values across ports helps catch VLAN misassignment that would isolate a device from its intended broadcast domain.
