Category: VLAN and Bridging, Vendor: Cabletron/Enterasys

Description: Manages Cabletron ELS10 series entry-level switch hardware, port status, and basic switching parameters.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CT-ELS10-MIB?

CT-ELS10-MIB is a Cabletron Systems proprietary MIB for the ELS10 series entry-level Ethernet switches, providing hardware configuration and basic Layer 2 switching parameters similar to its ELS10-27 sibling module. It exposes per-port protocol settings (bridging, BPDU suppression, RIP listening, trunking) and VLAN/trunk table configuration for the switch's fixed port set. It supports monitoring of switch software status by confirming spanning-tree, trunking, and VLAN configuration is applied as intended on each port, helping detect misconfigurations that cause loops or unreachable segments. It builds on Cabletron's standard bridge/VLAN MIB conventions and ties into ifIndex-based interface tables. It was deployed in small enterprise or branch-office wiring closets running the ELS10 as an inexpensive, lightly managed workgroup switch. Engineers can download the CT-ELS10-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CT-ELS10-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cabletron ELS10 series entry-level Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

Polling els10-27protoTable entries (the shared object naming convention across the ELS10 family) via els10-27protoIfIndex exposes each port's els10-27protoBridge and els10-27protoTrunking state, letting an operator confirm no port has trunking unexpectedly enabled. The els10-27trunkTable indexed by els10-27trunkIfIndex shows configured trunk links, useful for validating uplink configuration after a firmware upgrade. Because this MIB shares its object set with CT-ELS10-27-MIB, administrators should verify against the specific device's MIB file to confirm which OIDs are actually implemented on a given ELS10 unit.
