Category: Hardware and Environment, Vendor: HP/HPE

Description: Monitors HP ProLiant uninterruptible power supply status including battery level, input voltage, and UPS fault conditions.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CPQUPS-MIB?

CPQUPS-MIB is a Compaq/HP ProLiant server-management MIB for monitoring uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units attached to or protecting ProLiant servers. It belongs to the power/environmental hardware-management category within the broader Compaq Insight Manager MIB family, exposing UPS status, battery, and input-power objects. Its monitoring value is squarely hardware health: it reports UPS battery charge level, input line voltage, and fault/alarm conditions such as on-battery or low-battery states, letting an administrator detect an impending power outage or a failing UPS battery before it causes an unplanned server shutdown. It complements other CPQ* MIBs, such as CPQSASSWITCH-MIB and CPQ-TRAPS-MIB, as part of HP's Insight Manager hardware-health suite for ProLiant systems. It is deployed wherever ProLiant servers rely on an attached/networked Compaq-branded UPS, typically monitored via HP Systems Insight Manager or SNMP-based data-center power-monitoring tools, and administrators can also load the CPQUPS-MIB file directly into a MIB Browser to inspect these UPS objects.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CPQUPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP (Compaq) ProLiant servers with attached UPS units

Monitoring Examples

No module description or sample object list is available for this entry, so exact object names cannot be confirmed. Based on its documented purpose, an admin would poll UPS battery-charge and input-voltage objects to detect a UPS running on battery power, indicating a utility power failure, or a battery charge dropping below a safe threshold, either of which would trigger a graceful server shutdown before power is lost, but no concrete table/object names are available for this entry.

What Can Be Monitored

  • UPS battery charge level
  • input line voltage
  • on-battery/fault alarm status
  • UPS operational status
