Description: Provides management objects for Ethernet flow control (IEEE 802.3x pause) configuration on Cisco UCS/Firepower fabric interconnect ports.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-FIREPOWER-FLOWCTRL-MIB?

CISCO-FIREPOWER-FLOWCTRL-MIB manages IEEE 802.3x Ethernet flow control (pause frame) policies on Cisco UCS/Firepower fabric interconnect ports, controlling how ports respond to congestion. It exposes a definition table for flow-control policies, including policy ownership and level, and an item table applying those definitions to specific interfaces. The MIB supports monitoring the software configuration status of flow-control policy application, letting administrators confirm which policy level and owner govern flow control on a given port and spot inconsistent or unintended pause-frame behavior that could mask underlying congestion or interoperability issues. It is part of the Cisco UCS/Firepower management information model and depends on the same DN/RN addressing conventions as sibling Firepower MIBs. It is deployed on Cisco UCS/Firepower fabric interconnects where flow control tuning is needed for storage or lossless Ethernet traffic. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the CISCO-FIREPOWER-FLOWCTRL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-FIREPOWER-FLOWCTRL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco UCS/Firepower fabric interconnects

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll cfprFlowctrlDefinitionTable, reading cfprFlowctrlDefinitionPolicyLevel and cfprFlowctrlDefinitionPolicyOwner for a policy named in cfprFlowctrlDefinitionName, then cross-reference cfprFlowctrlItemTable to see which physical items apply that definition. A port unexpectedly bound to a different flow-control definition than intended could explain unexpected pause-frame behavior or dropped frames on a lossless Ethernet link.

What Can Be Monitored

  • flow control policy level and owner
  • policy definition name
  • applied flow control items
  • policy description
