Description: Provides firmware upgrade, reboot, and configuration backup operations for Colubris/HP wireless devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is COLUBRIS-MAINTENANCE-MIB?
This Colubris (HP) MIB provides remote maintenance operations for access points, covering scheduled/on-demand firmware updates and configuration backup/restore. It exposes configuration objects for scheduling periodic firmware or config updates (day, time, source location) plus status/notification objects reporting the outcome of an update operation. Its monitoring value is centered on software version and update-process status: an admin can confirm whether a firmware update completed successfully, check firmwareUpdateInfo/firmwareUpdateStatus to see current version or failure reason, and verify periodic configuration backups are actually occurring on schedule. It has no significant technical dependency on other MIBs beyond Colubris's own device family. It's deployed on Colubris/HP access points in managed multi-site WLAN deployments where firmware/config lifecycle needs to be centrally tracked. Engineers can download the COLUBRIS-MAINTENANCE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in COLUBRIS-MAINTENANCE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Colubris/HP wireless access point
Monitoring Examples
An admin sets firmwarePeriodicUpdate with firmwareUpdateDay/firmwareUpdateTime and firmwareUpdateLocation pointing to a TFTP/HTTP server, then polls firmwareUpdateStatus after the scheduled window to confirm the update succeeded rather than failing partway through, which would leave the AP on an old firmwareUpdateInfo version. Similarly, configurationPeriodicUpdate with configurationUpdateDay/configurationUpdateTime lets the admin verify that automated config backups to configurationUpdateLocation are running as scheduled, catching a silent failure before it's needed for disaster recovery.
What Can Be Monitored
- firmware update schedule and status
- current firmware version
- configuration backup schedule and status
- update/backup source location
