Category: Vendor: HP/HPE, Wireless and WLAN
Description: Manages software license keys and feature entitlement on Colubris/HP wireless systems.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is COLUBRIS-LICENSE-MIB?
COLUBRIS-LICENSE-MIB manages software license keys and feature entitlement on Colubris (later HP-acquired) wireless LAN systems, letting an administrator see which licensed features are installed and their current state. It exposes a feature table listing each licensed feature's name, enabled/disabled state, expiration date, and remaining days, making it a software-status and entitlement-monitoring MIB rather than a hardware-telemetry one. This is directly relevant to monitoring software status: a feature whose license has expired or is about to expire can silently disable capability (such as additional AP capacity or advanced wireless features) on the controller, so tracking remaining license days is an operational necessity. It is a self-contained vendor MIB within the Colubris enterprise tree, registered under the COLUBRIS-SMI structural module. It is deployed on Colubris/HP wireless LAN controllers and access points wherever licensed feature capacity needs to be tracked. Engineers can download the COLUBRIS-LICENSE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in COLUBRIS-LICENSE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Colubris/HP wireless LAN controllers
- Colubris/HP wireless access points
Monitoring Examples
An administrator polls coLicenseFeatureTable to enumerate installed features via coLicenseFeatureName and checks coLicenseFeatureState to confirm each is currently enabled. coLicenseFeatureEndingDate and coLicenseFeatureRemainingDays let the admin set an alert threshold - for example, 30 days before expiry - so that a wireless controller's expanded-capacity license doesn't lapse unnoticed and silently reduce the number of manageable access points.
What Can Be Monitored
- licensed feature name
- feature enabled/disabled state
- license expiration date
- days remaining until license expiry
