What Is COLUBRIS-DEVICE-EVENT-MIB?

COLUBRIS-DEVICE-EVENT-MIB is a Colubris Networks (HP) MIB providing device-level event logging and notification for wireless access points, mirroring the client-tracking event types but scoped to the AP's own operational events. It exposes an event history table (coDeviceEventTable/Entry) alongside per-event-type notification enable configuration for association, re-association, authentication, and de-authentication successes/failures. It gives visibility into the AP's own software/service status over time: an admin can review the event log to see the AP's operational event history and identify periods of instability, complementing real-time hardware/environmental checks with an event-driven audit trail. It works alongside COLUBRIS-CLIENT-TRACKING-MIB, which covers the same event categories from a client-centric rather than device-centric angle. It is deployed in enterprise Wi-Fi networks where operators want a historical log of device-level wireless events for post-incident diagnosis. Engineers can download the COLUBRIS-DEVICE-EVENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in COLUBRIS-DEVICE-EVENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Colubris/HP wireless access point/controller

Monitoring Examples

An admin reviewing coDeviceEventTable/Entry after a reported wireless outage could correlate the recorded timestamps and event types against the incident window to identify a spike in failed associations or authentications. coDevEvAssociationFailureNotificationEnabled and similar objects control which of these event types generate real-time SNMP traps in addition to being logged. This lets an operator distinguish an isolated client problem from a device-wide event affecting many clients at once.

What Can Be Monitored

  • device event log history
  • association/re-association event notifications
  • authentication/de-authentication event notifications
  • per-event-type notification enable configuration
