Description: Configures AAA client settings including RADIUS server lists for Colubris/HP wireless controllers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is COLUBRIS-AAA-CLIENT-MIB?
COLUBRIS-AAA-CLIENT-MIB is a Colubris Networks (later acquired by HP) MIB for configuring AAA client behavior on wireless access points/controllers, including which RADIUS servers to use for authentication. It exposes configuration data -- AAA profiles mapped to primary/secondary RADIUS server entries, and per-server authentication protocol/method settings -- rather than performance counters or environmental data. Its monitoring value is in verifying the software/service configuration state: confirming an AP's AAA profile correctly references a reachable primary RADIUS server, with fallback to a secondary, is essential to keeping the wireless authentication service available. It works alongside other Colubris MIBs, such as the Client Tracking and Device Event modules, to give a fuller picture of the AAA-driven wireless service. It is deployed in enterprise wireless networks using Colubris/HP access points where centralized RADIUS-based authentication needs to be configured and verified per device. Engineers can download the COLUBRIS-AAA-CLIENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in COLUBRIS-AAA-CLIENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Colubris/HP wireless access point/controller
Monitoring Examples
An admin would inspect colubrisAAAProfileTable/Entry, keyed by colubrisAAAProfileIndex, to see which colubrisAAAProfilePrimaryServerIndex and SecondaryServerIndex a given AAA profile references. Cross-referencing those indexes against colubrisAAAServerTable/Entry surfaces the colubrisAAAServerName and colubrisAAAAuthenProtocol/AuthenMethod configured for each RADIUS server. A misconfiguration here -- e.g., a profile pointing at a decommissioned primary server -- would be caught by comparing the configured server indexes against the actual reachable RADIUS servers.
What Can Be Monitored
- AAA profile-to-RADIUS-server mapping
- primary/secondary RADIUS server assignment
- authentication protocol and method configuration
- configured RADIUS server names
