Category: VLAN and Bridging, Vendor: Cisco Devices, Wireless and WLAN

Description: Manages Cisco WLAN VLAN mappings associating wireless SSIDs with wired VLAN segments.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-WLAN-VLAN-MIB?

CISCO-WLAN-VLAN-MIB is a Cisco Systems proprietary MIB configuring VLAN and encryption settings for IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN devices. Its objects cover 802.1Q encapsulation enable, native-bridging VLAN ID, VoIP-VLAN enable/ID, public VLAN ID, a per-WLAN VLAN table (enable, unicast-key-rotation interval, encryption mode/mandatory flag, MIC algorithm, WEP key permute/hashing algorithm, encryption algorithm, row status), a broadcast-key table (index, length, value), and a WEP-key-change notification. As a configuration/security MIB it lets an administrator confirm a WLAN's encryption mode and key-rotation interval. It is deployed on Cisco wireless LAN infrastructure (802.11 access points/controllers). Engineers can download the CISCO-WLAN-VLAN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-WLAN-VLAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco wireless LAN infrastructure (802.11 access points/controllers)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks cwvlWlanEncryptionMode and cwvlWlanNUcastKeyRotateInterval to confirm a WLAN's security settings meet policy requirements on Cisco wireless infrastructure.

What Can Be Monitored

  • WLAN VLAN and encryption configuration
