Description: Manages per-user and per-SSID bandwidth rate limiting on Colubris/HP wireless access points.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is COLUBRIS-BANDWIDTH-CONTROL-MIB?
COLUBRIS-BANDWIDTH-CONTROL-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Colubris Networks (acquired by HP) for managing per-priority-level bandwidth shaping on the Internet-facing port of Colubris wireless access points/controllers. It exposes global controls (coBandwidthControlEnable, coBandwidthControlMaxTransmitRate, coBandwidthControlMaxReceiveRate) and a four-row coBandwidthControlLevelTable representing Low/Normal/High/Very High priority queues, each with configurable minimum and maximum transmit/receive rate percentages (coBandwidthControlLevelMinTransmitRate, coBandwidthControlLevelMaxTransmitRate, and their receive-side counterparts). This is a configuration-oriented MIB rather than a live-counter MIB, so its monitoring value lies in verifying that bandwidth shaping is enabled and that per-level rate allocations match intended QoS policy, useful for diagnosing why certain traffic classes are being throttled or starved on the WAN uplink. It is deployed on Colubris/HP ProCurve wireless access points and depends on the vendor's COLUBRIS-SMI and COLUBRIS-TC modules for its enterprise registration and shared textual conventions like ColubrisPriorityQueue, and network engineers can download the COLUBRIS-BANDWIDTH-CONTROL-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser for reference.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in COLUBRIS-BANDWIDTH-CONTROL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Colubris Networks (HP) wireless access points and gateways
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls coBandwidthControlEnable to confirm shaping is active, then reviews coBandwidthControlLevelTable (indexed by coBandwidthControlLevelIndex) for the 'Low' priority level; if coBandwidthControlLevelMaxTransmitRate is set unexpectedly low relative to coBandwidthControlMaxTransmitRate, background/low-priority traffic on the access point's Internet port would be excessively throttled.
What Can Be Monitored
- bandwidth control enable/disable state
- maximum transmit/receive rate on the Internet port
- per-level minimum/maximum transmit rate percentages
- per-level minimum/maximum receive rate percentages
- priority queue level index assignment
