Description: The value of the prtLocalizationIndex corresponding to the current language, country, and character set to be used for localized string values that are identified as being dependent on the value of this object. Note that this object does not apply to localized strings in the prtConsole group or to any object that is not explicitly identified as being localized according to prtGeneralCurrentLocalization. Additional information: Replaces PML LOCALIZATION-LANGUAGE. The value of this object is saved in NVRAM.
What is prtgeneralcurrentlocalization?
This read-write integer selects, by its prtLocalizationIndex value, which language, country, and character set the printer currently uses for the various localized string objects in this MIB that are explicitly tied to it, though it does not affect the separate prtConsole group's own localization setting. An admin uses it to switch which language a fleet of localized display strings, like media names, get exposed in. For example, setting prtgeneralcurrentlocalization to the index for French would change how the printer represents its general localized text without necessarily changing what language its physical control panel is currently displaying.
