prtconsolelocalization

Module: CLJ8500-MIB

OID (symbolic): CLJ8500-MIB::prtconsolelocalization

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.9.4.2.2.5.1.1.10

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The value of the prtLocalizationIndex corresponding to the language, country, and character set to be used for the console. This localization applies both to the actual display on the console as well as the encoding of these console objects in management operations. Additional information: Replaces PML LOCALIZATION-LANGUAGE. The value of this object is saved in NVRAM. If a localized string is currently being displayed on the control panel by the device, changing this object will cause the displayed string to be changed to its new value. If this object is changed while the printer is processing a page that contains localized strings has started, the results are undefined.

What is prtconsolelocalization?

This read-write integer selects, by its prtLocalizationIndex value, which language, country, and character set the printer's physical front-panel console uses, affecting both what operators see on the display and how console-related objects are encoded when read over SNMP. It is distinct from prtgeneralcurrentlocalization, which governs other localized strings in the MIB rather than the console itself. For example, an admin deploying a CLJ8500 to a French-speaking site would set prtconsolelocalization to the French entry so the control panel displays menus in French, independent of whatever localization the rest of the MIB's strings use.
