Module: CLJ8500-MIB

OID (symbolic): CLJ8500-MIB::prtconsoledisplaybuffertext

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.9.4.2.2.16.5.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-only

Description: The content of a line in the logical display buffer of the operator's console of the printer. When a write operation occurs, normally a critical message, to one of the LineText strings, the agent should make that line displayable if a physical display is present. Writing a zero length string clears the line. It is an implementation-specific matter as to whether the agent allows a line to be overwritten before it has been cleared. Printer generated strings shall be in the localization specified by prtConsoleLocalization. Management Application generated strings should be localized by the Management Application. Additional information: Replaces PML STATUS-MSG-LINE1-PART1 and STATUS-MSG-LINE2-PART1. The ojbects BACKGROUND-STATUS-MSG-LINE1-PART1 and BACKGROUND-STATUS-MSG-LINE2-PART1 should be used to write messages to the control panel display. prtConsoleDisplayBufferText[1..8] maps to logical line [1..8] of the display. Unused lines on the control pannel should retrun NULL.

What is prtconsoledisplaybuffertext?

This object holds the text content of one line in the printer's logical console display buffer, and writing to it, typically to post a critical message, should make that line appear on the physical control panel display if one is present. An admin or management application uses this to push custom status messages directly onto the printer's front-panel screen, with a zero-length write used specifically to clear that line again. For example, a remote management tool could write 'Contact IT ext. 4521' to this line so anyone standing at the printer sees the message on its physical display.
