prtchannelstate

Module: CLJ8500-MIB

OID (symbolic): CLJ8500-MIB::prtchannelstate

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.9.4.2.2.14.1.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: The state of this print data channel. The value determines whether control information and print data is allowed through this channel or not. Additional information: MIO-based channels provide their own values for this object. The base-printer's port always reports a value of ePprintDataAccepted. If the printer is offline, that is detected by reading the Host Resources General Printer Status objects, not by reading this object.

What is prtchannelstate?

This read-only object reports whether a print data channel currently accepts control information and print data or is refusing it. An admin uses this to check if a specific channel, rather than the whole printer, is the reason jobs are not going through, noting that the base printer's own port always reports data-accepted while offline conditions are actually detected via the Host Resources General group. For example, if an MIO network card channel reports ePnoDataAccepted(4) while the base parallel port still accepts data, the admin knows the network interface specifically has stopped accepting jobs.
