This read-only octet string gives a plain description of the specific storage area a given row represents, such as identifying it as the printer's main RAM or its formatter memory pool, and unlike many other display strings in this MIB it is not translated into the device's configured language. It gives an admin a human-readable label to match up against the more cryptic hrstoragetype OID when browsing the storage table. For example, an admin scanning hrstoragedescr values across the table could pick out the row labeled as formatter RAM to check that specific pool's usage.
