What is hrdevicedescr?
This read-only octet string gives a free-text description of the device, typically including its manufacturer name and firmware revision and optionally a serial number, and like hrstoragedescr it is not translated into whatever language the printer's console is configured for. It gives an admin a quick way to confirm exactly which product and firmware version a given device entry refers to. For example, an admin auditing a fleet of printers could read hrdevicedescr to confirm every unit reporting as a CLJ8500 is actually running the firmware revision expected.
