What Is CISCO-WAN-BBIF-ILMI-MIB?

CISCO-WAN-BBIF-ILMI-MIB configures and reports ILMI (Interim Local Management Interface) status for broadband (ATM logical port) interfaces on the PXM1 service module in Cisco MGX82xx WAN switches. ILMI is the ATM signaling protocol used for address registration and interface status exchange between an ATM switch and attached devices. It exposes configuration such as whether ILMI is enabled, the signaling VPI/VCI, address prefix, customer ID, protocol revision, and trap-related settings, making it primarily a software-configuration/status MIB rather than a raw hardware-counter MIB, used to confirm ILMI signaling is correctly enabled and configured on each broadband port and that trap notifications for ILMI state changes are appropriately throttled. It pairs with CISCO-WAN-BBIF-ATM-CONN-STAT-MIB, both scoped to the same PXM1 broadband interface hardware, and relies on general ATM Forum ILMI concepts rather than a specific IETF ILMI MIB. Monitoring Examples

An operator would check bbIfIlmiEnable and bbIfSignallingProtocolType in bbIfCnfSigILMIGrpTable, indexed by bbIfSigPortNum, to confirm ILMI is active and using the expected signaling protocol on a given broadband port, and verify bbIfSignallingVpi/bbIfSignallingVci match the provisioned signaling channel. If bbIfIlmiTrapEnable is set but bbIfMinTrapInterval is misconfigured, ILMI state-change traps could be suppressed or flood the NMS.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using bbIfSnmpPduReceived OID:

Select a Cisco MGX ATM service module as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type bbIfSnmpPduReceived into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The number of snmp packets received on this logical interface. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
