Description: Manages RPM resource partitioning for ATM and Frame Relay connections on Cisco MGX 8200 platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-MGX82XX-RPM-RSRC-PART-MIB?

CISCO-MGX82XX-RPM-RSRC-PART-MIB is a Cisco MIB module for managing resource partitions configured on RPM (Route Processor Module) subinterfaces within the MGX 8200-series WAN switch family. It exposes configuration data letting an administrator partition ATM/Frame Relay connection resources -- VPI/VCI ranges, ingress/egress bandwidth percentages, and total connection-entry capacity -- among multiple controllers on an RPM interface. Although chiefly a provisioning MIB, it supports monitoring of resource consumption and allocation boundaries, allowing operators to see how bandwidth and VPI/VCI space are divided and whether a partition is nearing its configured limits. It is part of the CISCO-MGX82XX-* MIB family and works alongside the module and card resource-partition MIBs and general RPM interface MIBs to give a complete resource-allocation picture. Typical deployment is on Cisco MGX 8200-series switches equipped with RPM route processor modules in carrier or large enterprise WAN backbones. Engineers can download the CISCO-MGX82XX-RPM-RSRC-PART-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-MGX82XX-RPM-RSRC-PART-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco MGX 8200 series WAN switch with RPM (Route Processor Module)

Monitoring Examples

rpmIfCnfRscPartTable/rpmIfCnfRscPartEntry rows, keyed by rpmIfRscSlotNum, rpmIfRscPartIfNum, and rpmIfRscPartCtrlrNum, expose rpmIfRscPrtVpiLow/High and rpmIfRscPrtVciLow/High so an administrator can confirm the VPI/VCI address space assigned to each controller partition. rpmIfRscPrtIngrPctBandwidth and rpmIfRscPrtEgrPctBandwidth show the bandwidth share allotted to a partition, useful for spotting an over-allocated subinterface. rpmIfRscPrtRowStatus indicates whether a given partition entry is active or still being provisioned.

What Can Be Monitored

  • VPI/VCI range per partition
  • ingress/egress bandwidth percentage per partition
  • connection-entry capacity
  • partition provisioning status
