Description: Manages Channel Associated Signaling (CAS) configuration for TDM voice trunks on Cisco VISM gateway modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-VISM-CAS-MIB?

CISCO-VISM-CAS-MIB manages Channel Associated Signaling (CAS) configuration for TDM voice trunks on Cisco's VISM (Voice Interworking Service Module) gateway cards, which interwork traditional TDM/PSTN voice trunks with ATM/IP voice networks. It exposes configuration objects for CAS variants — country-specific signaling profiles, ringing timers, digit signaling methods, inter-digit timing parameters, and per-trunk-group state and row status. Its monitoring role centers on voice-trunk software/configuration status: operators check variant state and row status to confirm a CAS signaling variant is correctly provisioned and active for a given trunk group, and timing parameters to diagnose digit-collection or call-setup problems on TDM trunks. It is specific to Cisco's VISM line-card architecture and works alongside other Cisco voice-gateway MIBs for the broader interworking platform. It is deployed on Cisco VISM modules within MGX/AXSM-based voice gateway chassis handling TDM-to-packet voice trunk interworking. Engineers can download the CISCO-VISM-CAS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-VISM-CAS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco VISM (Voice Interworking Service Module) voice gateway cards, e.g., in MGX/AXSM chassis

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll vismCasVariantTable/vismCasVariantEntry (keyed by vismCasVariantName) to check vismCasVariantState and vismCasRowStatus, confirming that the correct country-specific CAS signaling profile (vismCasCountryCode) is active on a trunk group (vismCasGrp). Abnormal call setup or digit-collection failures would prompt review of vismCasDigitMethod and the inter-digit timers vismCasInterdigitTpart/Tcrit/TMF to see if timing mismatches with the far-end CAS variant are causing dropped or misrouted digits.

What Can Be Monitored

  • CAS variant provisioning state
  • trunk group signaling configuration
  • digit signaling method
  • inter-digit timing parameters
  • country code / CAS profile
