Description: Manages ITP SS7 signaling point v2 configuration with extended link set and network indicator support.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-ITP-SP2-MIB?
CISCO-ITP-SP2-MIB is a Cisco enterprise MIB, a version-2 extension of the ITP signaling-point family, providing event logging and QoS classification data for the Cisco IP Transfer Point (ITP) SS7-over-IP platform per ITU Q.752 measurement guidance. It exposes an event history table capturing logged and dropped events, along with a QoS table describing traffic class and type, giving operators visibility into both fault events and traffic prioritization on the ITP node. As a monitoring MIB it primarily supports software/event-log and configuration-status monitoring: cisEventSummryLoggedEvents/cisEventSummryDroppedEvents reveal whether the device's internal event buffer is overflowing (dropping events), which can hide real faults if not caught. It builds on the same ITU Q-series SS7 framework referenced by other Cisco ITP MIBs. It is deployed in telecom carrier networks on Cisco ITP nodes where operational events and QoS classes need centralized visibility via SNMP. Engineers can download the CISCO-ITP-SP2-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-ITP-SP2-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco IP Transfer Point (ITP)
- SS7 signaling gateway/telecom carrier router
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll cisEventSummryLoggedEvents and cisEventSummryDroppedEvents to check whether the device's event log is keeping up with activity; a nonzero and growing cisEventSummryDroppedEvents count indicates the cisEventHistoryTable (bounded by cisEventHistoryMaxEntries) is overflowing and some fault events are being lost. Walking cisEventHistoryTable/cisEventHistoryEntry and reading cisEventHistoryDescr for each cisEventHistoryIndex gives a chronological fault log. Separately, cisQosTable/cisQosTableEntry with cisQosClass and cisQosType lets an operator verify SS7 traffic is being classified into the correct QoS class.
What Can Be Monitored
- logged vs. dropped event counts
- event history log entries
- QoS class and type configuration
- event history table capacity
