Category: Cisco Devices, Device Management, Hardware and Environment

Description: Monitors Cisco UCS server processor inventory, core counts, speed, and operational status within UCS domains.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-PROC-MIB?

CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-PROC-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB within the Cisco UCS (Unified Computing System) management information model, dedicated to processor (CPU) inventory and status reporting for blade and rack servers managed by a UCS domain. It exposes processor-related managed objects such as processor "doer" and "manager" entries identified by distinguished names (Dn), relative names (Rn), instance IDs, and processor identifiers/names. Its monitoring value is squarely hardware status: tracking installed CPU inventory, identity, and (via related UCS PROC objects) operational state, core count, and speed, which are essential for detecting missing, degraded, or misconfigured processors in a server. It depends on the broader Cisco UCS management information model's DN/RN naming conventions shared across other UCS component MIBs (memory, storage, fans, power). It is deployed within Cisco UCS Manager-managed blade server chassis and Fabric Interconnect domains. Engineers can download the CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-PROC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-PROC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco UCS blade/rack servers

Monitoring Examples

A UCS administrator would poll cucsProcDoerTable/cucsProcDoerEntry rows to read cucsProcDoerDn, cucsProcDoerRn, and cucsProcDoerId/cucsProcDoerName, identifying each physical CPU socket's location within a specific blade server. Cross-referencing cucsProcManagerTable/cucsProcManagerEntry (keyed by cucsProcManagerInstanceId and cucsProcManagerDn) reveals the managing controller context for a processor, and an unexpected disappearance or state change in these entries would flag a failed or removed CPU on a UCS blade.

What Can Be Monitored

  • processor inventory
  • processor identity/name
  • CPU socket location (DN/RN)
  • processor manager association
