Description: Provides version information for Cisco UCS Manager software components and firmware across UCS infrastructure.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-VERSION-MIB?
CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-VERSION-MIB is part of Cisco's Unified Computing System (UCS) MIB family, generated from the UCS Manager information model, and covers version/firmware tracking across UCS blade and rack server infrastructure. It exposes tables describing installed application component versions and endpoint (EP) firmware versions, each tagged with a distinguished name (Dn) and relative name (Rn) that mirror the UCS Manager object hierarchy. Its primary monitoring role is software-status visibility: administrators use it to confirm the running firmware/software version of UCS management applications and endpoints, and to catch version drift or unexpected changes after an upgrade. It is tightly coupled to the broader CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-MIB suite and the underlying UCS Manager XML/DN object model rather than standing alone. It is deployed in Cisco UCS domains (Fabric Interconnects, blade/rack servers) managed by UCS Manager or UCS Central, where administrators reference the CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-VERSION-MIB MIB to track firmware versions across the fabric.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-VERSION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco UCS blade server
- Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnect
- Cisco UCS rack server
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls cucsVersionApplicationTable, keyed by cucsVersionApplicationInstanceId and cucsVersionApplicationDn, reading cucsVersionApplicationVersion to verify every UCS Manager application component is running the expected release after a firmware upgrade. The cucsVersionApplicationTime column shows when each version was last updated, helping correlate a service disruption with a recent upgrade. Similarly, cucsVersionEpTable (cucsVersionEpEntry, cucsVersionEpInstanceId, cucsVersionEpDn) is polled to confirm endpoint firmware versions across blades match the fleet-wide standard, flagging any server still on outdated firmware.
What Can Be Monitored
- application component software version
- application version last-update time
- endpoint firmware version
- UCS object distinguished name/hierarchy
