Description: ENVIROMUX module

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ENVIROMUX?

ENVIROMUX is the MIB for NTI's (Network Technologies Inc.) ENVIROMUX environmental monitoring appliances, in this case the SEMS-16 master unit configuration with no slave units connected. It exposes system identification objects (enterprise name, location, contact, phone, current time) and an internal-sensor table describing each onboard sensor's type, description, and group assignment. As a dedicated environmental monitoring hardware appliance, its entire purpose is monitoring physical conditions -- temperature, and depending on connected probes, humidity, water, or airflow -- at the site or rack where it's installed, making sensor status the core data of interest. It has no dependency on another standard networking MIB, as it's a self-contained appliance MIB defined under NTI's private enterprise branch. It is deployed as a standalone environmental sensor hub in data centers, server rooms, or remote sites monitoring rack-level or room-level conditions. Engineers can download the ENVIROMUX file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ENVIROMUX. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • NTI ENVIROMUX environmental monitoring appliance (SEMS-16 master unit)

Monitoring Examples

An admin would walk intSensorTable/intSensorEntry to read intSensorType and intSensorDescription for each connected internal sensor, monitoring its reading to detect an out-of-range temperature or environmental condition at the monitored site. sysTime confirms the unit's clock is correct so that any alarm timestamps are trustworthy. Grouping sensors via intSensorGroup/intSensorGroupNb lets an admin organize alerts by rack or room zone.

What Can Be Monitored

  • sensor type per channel
  • sensor description/location
  • sensor grouping
  • system time
  • site contact/location metadata
