Description: Defines image provisioning policies controlling OS image deployment to Cisco UCS servers through service profile associations
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-IMGPROV-MIB?
CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-IMGPROV-MIB is a Cisco UCS MIB covering image provisioning policies — the mechanism by which UCS Manager deploys OS or firmware images to servers as part of service-profile association. It exposes provisioning policy definitions and target associations that determine which image gets pushed to which server or server pool. Its monitoring relevance is chiefly software-status oriented: confirming which image provisioning policy is bound to a target, which is directly useful for verifying that a newly provisioned or reprovisioned server received the intended OS image rather than a stale or incorrect one. It relies on the common Cisco UCS object-model conventions (Dn, Rn, instance ID, policy level/owner) shared across the CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-* family. It is deployed in UCS domains during server bring-up, OS re-imaging, or bare-metal provisioning workflows managed through UCS Manager or an integrated provisioning tool, and administrators typically download the CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-IMGPROV-MIB file to load into their MIB browser beforehand.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-IMGPROV-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco UCS blade/rack servers
- Cisco UCS Manager managed provisioning environments
Monitoring Examples
An administrator verifying that a newly associated blade received the correct image would poll cucsImgprovPolicyTable/cucsImgprovPolicyEntry, checking cucsImgprovPolicyName and cucsImgprovPolicyDescr against the intended provisioning policy, then cross-reference cucsImgprovTargetTable/cucsImgprovTargetEntry to confirm the target server is correctly associated with that policy. cucsImgprovPolicyPolicyOwner would clarify whether the policy is centrally managed or locally overridden, explaining an unexpected image assignment after a service-profile template change.
What Can Be Monitored
- image provisioning policy name/description
- provisioning target-to-policy association
- policy ownership (local vs. global/template-inherited)
