Description: Manages global metadata inventory polling, versioning, and FSM lifecycle for Cisco UCS objects synchronized with external policy connectors

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-GMETA-MIB?

CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-GMETA-MIB is part of the Cisco UCS management information model, managing global metadata inventory polling, versioning, and lifecycle for UCS objects that are synchronized with external policy connectors. It exposes class-level metadata -- class IDs, admin/operational property masks, and version/state information -- describing how UCS object schemas are tracked and kept in sync externally. Its monitoring role is software-status oriented: tracking the FSM lifecycle and property masks of metadata classes helps confirm that schema synchronization with external policy sources is completing successfully rather than leaving the UCS domain with stale or inconsistent metadata. It is closely coupled to CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-EXTPOL-MIB (external policy connectors) and the shared UCS FSM model. It is deployed in Cisco UCS Manager domains integrated with external policy/metadata registries, and administrators can download the CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-GMETA-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser for reference.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-GMETA-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco UCS Manager domains
  • Cisco UCS fabric interconnects

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll cucsGmetaClassTable/cucsGmetaClassEntry, examining cucsGmetaClassName and cucsGmetaClassEpClassId to confirm a given metadata class is correctly mapped to its external policy endpoint class. Checking cucsGmetaClassAdminPropMask against cucsGmetaClassOperPropMask reveals whether the administratively requested property set matches what has actually been synchronized operationally. A persistent mismatch between admin and operational property masks, or entries in cucsGmetaEpTable stuck in a non-terminal FSM state, would indicate a failed metadata synchronization with the external connector.

What Can Be Monitored

  • metadata class synchronization state
  • admin vs operational property mask alignment
  • external policy class mapping
  • metadata endpoint FSM lifecycle status
