Description: Manages Cisco StackWise switch stacking technology including stack topology, port roles, and member switch status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-STACKWISE-MIB?

CISCO-STACKWISE-MIB is a Cisco Systems, Inc. proprietary MIB for network devices supporting Cisco StackWise technology, which collectively utilizes a stack of switches as a single switching unit over a dedicated data/power stack ring. Its objects cover maximum switch number and configured priority, ring-redundancy status, a stack-power-info table (stack number, mode, master MAC address/switch number, member count, type, name), a stack-power-port-info table (port index, operational status, neighbor MAC address/switch number, link status, over-current threshold, port name), stack-notification enable flags, and stack domain number/type. As a hardware/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm which switch is the StackWise master and watch stack-power ring health and over-current conditions across the stack. It is deployed on Cisco Catalyst StackWise-capable switches. This is a heavily searched Cisco MIB, since cisco-stackwise-mib governs stack-power and stack-member monitoring across Cisco Catalyst StackWise-enabled switch lines.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-STACKWISE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Catalyst StackWise-capable switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks cswStackPowerMasterSwitchNum and cswStackPowerPortOperStatus to confirm the StackWise stack topology and power-ring health on a Cisco Catalyst switch stack.

What Can Be Monitored

  • stack-power ring topology, master election, and over-current status
