What Is CISCO-SWITCH-ENGINE-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-SWITCH-ENGINE-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module describing which objects of CISCO-SWITCH-ENGINE-MIB, which covers switch-engine ASIC management, a given Cisco Catalyst platform's agent implements. It belongs to the switching-hardware/ASIC-management technology area but contains no runtime monitoring data itself. As a conformance-only module it cannot be polled for temperature, CPU/memory, uptime, or any live counters; its role is limited to letting a network management system determine ahead of time which CISCO-SWITCH-ENGINE-MIB capabilities a particular device's SNMP agent supports. It is entirely dependent on the companion CISCO-SWITCH-ENGINE-MIB, which is the actual data module exposing switch-engine ASIC status and statistics. It applies to Cisco Catalyst switching hardware platforms with a dedicated switch-engine ASIC.
