What Is CISCO-PROXY-CONTROL-MIB?

CISCO-PROXY-CONTROL-MIB extends the IETF Dial Control MIB (RFC 2128) to provide proxy management information for Cisco voice/video gateway platforms acting as media relays or application-layer gateways for protocols like H.323/T.120. It exposes both active and historical call data, including remote IP address, negotiated audio/video/T.120 UDP or TCP ports, connection identifiers, and remote endpoint type/vendor. It supports monitoring the software/call-handling status of the proxy — cProxyCallActiveTable entries reveal how many calls are currently relayed and their negotiated media ports, letting an admin spot stuck or abnormally long-lived calls, port-negotiation failures, or interoperability issues tied to a particular cProxyCallActiveEndpointVendor. It explicitly builds on and extends the IETF Dial Control MIB, so it should be read together with that standard for full call-control context. It is typically deployed on Cisco voice/video gateway or proxy platforms handling audio/video conferencing traffic (codecs referenced include GSM, AMR-NB, iLBC, and iSAC). An operator would poll cProxyCallActiveTable/cProxyCallActiveEntry for cProxyCallActiveConnectionId and cProxyCallActiveRemoteIPAddress to enumerate currently relayed calls, then check cProxyCallActiveAudioUDPPort and cProxyCallActiveVideoUDPPort to confirm media ports were successfully negotiated. A call stuck without valid cProxyCallActiveT120TCPPort1-4 values might indicate a T.120 data-conferencing negotiation failure. cProxyCallActiveEndpointType and cProxyCallActiveEndpointVendor help identify whether failures cluster around a specific remote endpoint vendor, useful for interoperability troubleshooting; cProxyCallHistory provides the equivalent data for completed calls.
