Category: Cisco Devices, Hardware and Environment

Description: Provides management objects for Ethernet interface configuration and statistics on Cisco UCS/Firepower fabric interconnect ports.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-FIREPOWER-ETHER-MIB?

CISCO-FIREPOWER-ETHER-MIB is part of the Cisco UCS/Firepower unified computing management information model, providing Ethernet interface configuration and error statistics for fabric interconnect ports on Cisco Firepower and UCS platforms. It exposes performance counters such as alignment errors and deferred transmissions, each tracked as instantaneous delta, average, and maximum values over time. It is useful for monitoring hardware/link health at the Ethernet physical layer: rising alignment error deltas or deferred-transmission counts on a fabric interconnect port can indicate a failing cable, transceiver, or duplex mismatch. As part of the Firepower/UCS managed object model it depends on the broader UCS management information tree (identified via distinguished names/Dn and relative names/Rn) rather than classic IETF Ethernet MIBs. It is deployed on Cisco Firepower and UCS fabric interconnects and chassis in data center and security appliance environments. Engineers can download the CISCO-FIREPOWER-ETHER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-FIREPOWER-ETHER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Firepower fabric interconnects
  • Cisco UCS chassis

Monitoring Examples

An engineer would poll cfprEtherErrStatsTable/cfprEtherErrStatsEntry, identifying a port by its cfprEtherErrStatsDn, and watch cfprEtherErrStatsAlignDelta and cfprEtherErrStatsAlignDeltaMax for spikes indicating physical-layer alignment errors. A sustained rise in cfprEtherErrStatsDeferredTxDelta would point to a duplex mismatch or excessive collision domain contention on that fabric interconnect port.

What Can Be Monitored

  • Ethernet alignment error counts
  • deferred transmission counts
  • delta/average/max error rates per port
