Category: Cisco Devices, SNA and Legacy Protocols, SNMP Framework

Description: Declares agent capability for the Cisco ITP global SS7 routing table MIB.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-ITP-GRT-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-ITP-GRT-CAPABILITY is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES module that declares which parts of the CISCO-ITP-GRT-MIB (Cisco Internet Transfer Point Global Routing Table MIB, used in SS7-over-IP signaling gateways) a particular agent implementation actually supports. As an agent-capabilities module, it contains no runtime data objects of its own -- it exists purely to document implementation conformance (supported groups, variations, and access levels) for network management tool developers rather than to expose any pollable hardware or software status. Consequently it has no direct role in monitoring uptime, temperature, CPU/memory, or any other operational metric; its value is purely at MIB-compliance/tooling time, helping an NMS know in advance which ITP GRT objects a given Cisco ITP device supports before it attempts to poll them. It is entirely dependent on and meaningless without the companion CISCO-ITP-GRT-MIB it describes. It would be referenced by MIB compilers and NMS provisioning tools working with Cisco ITP (SS7/SIGTRAN signaling gateway) platforms rather than deployed as a live monitoring target. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the CISCO-ITP-GRT-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-ITP-GRT-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco ITP (Internet Transfer Point) SS7/SIGTRAN signaling gateway

Monitoring Examples

This module is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES declaration with no sample runtime objects, so it does not itself expose anything to poll; a realistic monitoring scenario would instead be built against the CISCO-ITP-GRT-MIB objects it describes support for.
