What Is CENTILLION-BRIDGEGROUP-MIB?
CENTILLION-BRIDGEGROUP-MIB manages bridge group configuration on Nortel Centillion ATM/LAN switches, defining how physical and switched-fabric ports are grouped into IEEE 802.1D bridge instances for LAN emulation. It exposes bridge group identifiers, status, base bridging type, spanning-tree protocol selection, and Token Ring source-route bridging (RIF) parameters per bridge group. Its primary monitoring value is configuration/state visibility rather than raw performance counters: administrators use it to confirm a bridge group's operational status and spanning-tree mode, which helps diagnose bridging loops or misconfigured LAN emulation domains. It explicitly extends the standard IETF BRIDGE-MIB (dot1dBase) conventions with Centillion-specific bridge-group semantics. It is used in legacy Nortel Centillion switch deployments that combine ATM and Ethernet/Token Ring bridging in the same chassis. Engineers can download the CENTILLION-BRIDGEGROUP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

An operator would inspect bridgeGroupTable/bridgeGroupEntry, keyed by bridgeGroupIdentifier, to check bridgeGroupStatus and bridgeGroupStpProtocol for a given bridge group and confirm it is active with the expected spanning-tree behavior. bridgeGroupPortType and bridgeGroupNextPortIndex reveal which ports are currently members of the group, useful when troubleshooting an unexpected topology change. bridgeGroupTbRifEnable and bridgeGroupTbRifRing would be checked on Token Ring segments to verify source-route bridging configuration.
