Description: Provides management objects for device-to-profile mapping and logical-to-physical resource associations on Cisco UCS/Firepower platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-FIREPOWER-MAPPINGS-MIB?
CISCO-FIREPOWER-MAPPINGS-MIB is a Cisco-proprietary MIB belonging to the Cisco UCS/Firepower unified computing and security appliance management-information-model family (the same framework used across Firepower chassis and fabric interconnects managed via UCS Manager/FXOS). Rather than exposing environmental or traffic counters, it exposes structural relationship data: containment and inverse-containment mappings between parent and child managed objects (MOs), plus MO distinguished-name-to-OID translation tables. It is used less for direct hardware/software health monitoring and more as an infrastructure/navigation aid, letting an NMS resolve the object hierarchy of a Firepower chassis so that other health- and status-bearing MIBs (power, storage, fault) can be correctly interpreted and cross-referenced to physical or logical components. It depends implicitly on the broader Cisco UCS/Firepower MIB family, since its mappings only have meaning in the context of object instances defined by those sibling MIBs. It is deployed alongside other CISCO-FIREPOWER-*-MIB modules on Cisco Firepower 9300/4100-series security appliances and UCS-based platforms managed through UCS Manager. Engineers can download the CISCO-FIREPOWER-MAPPINGS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-FIREPOWER-MAPPINGS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco Firepower security appliance (9300/4100 series)
- Cisco UCS-managed chassis/fabric interconnect
Monitoring Examples
An admin walking cfprMappingsMoContainmentTable can read cfprMappingsMoContainmentParentInstanceId and cfprMappingsMoContainmentChildInstanceId to determine which managed-object instances are nested under a given chassis or blade, then use cfprMappingsMoContainmentParentDn/ChildDn to translate those instance IDs into human-readable distinguished names. Because cfprMappingsMoInverseContainmentTable provides the reverse child-to-parent lookup, a management tool can walk up from a specific hardware component to its containing chassis without pre-knowing the full DN hierarchy. This is a structural/reference MIB rather than a fault or performance data source, so it is polled to build or validate object topology used when correlating alerts raised by other Firepower MIBs, not to detect anomalies directly.
What Can Be Monitored
- managed-object parent/child containment mapping
- child-to-parent inverse containment lookup
- distinguished-name (DN) to OID resolution
- managed-object instance ID relationships
