Description: Provides MPLS node and domain identifiers as defined in IETF draft standards for MPLS network management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-IETF-MPLS-ID-STD-03-MIB?

CISCO-IETF-MPLS-ID-STD-03-MIB is a Cisco-ized version of an IETF MPLS Transport Profile (MPLS-TP) draft standard MIB that defines node and domain identity objects for MPLS traffic-engineered networks. It exposes global identifiers such as the global ID, ITU carrier code (ICC), and node ID that uniquely identify an MPLS-TP node within its administrative domain and network. Rather than performance counters, this MIB primarily supports monitoring the configuration/identity status of a device within an MPLS-TP topology, letting operators verify that node and domain identifiers are consistently and correctly provisioned across a transport network. It is explicitly based on the IETF draft-ietf-mpls-tp-te-mib and is used alongside other MPLS-TP and traffic-engineering MIBs for full network visibility. Typical deployment is in service provider MPLS transport networks using MPLS-TP for carrier-grade packet transport. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the CISCO-IETF-MPLS-ID-STD-03-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-IETF-MPLS-ID-STD-03-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB structure (Cisco-ized), applies to MPLS-TP capable routers
  • Cisco MPLS transport network routers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator reads cmplsGlobalId, cmplsIcc, and cmplsNodeId scalar objects to confirm a given router's MPLS-TP identity matches the network's provisioning plan. A mismatch between the expected cmplsGlobalId and the value returned by a newly added node would indicate a provisioning error that could cause MPLS-TP path setup failures. Since this MIB is largely identity/configuration data, there are no traffic counters to poll here; monitoring focuses on cmplsIdNotifications for identity-related change events.

What Can Be Monitored
