Category: Cisco Devices, Network Interfaces, SNMP Framework
Description: Declares agent capabilities for the Port Aggregation Protocol (PAgP) used in Cisco EtherChannel link bundling.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-PAGP-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-PAGP-CAPABILITY is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES module that documents which parts of the CISCO-PAGP-MIB a particular agent implementation supports, rather than a MIB defining its own management objects. PAgP (Port Aggregation Protocol) is Cisco's proprietary protocol for negotiating EtherChannel link bundles between switches. As a conformance/capabilities module it exposes no monitorable runtime data itself; its purpose is purely to declare implementation conformance for network management tool compatibility checks. It exists solely as a companion to CISCO-PAGP-MIB, which is where actual PAgP channel-group status and configuration objects would be found. It is relevant wherever Cisco switches running PAgP-based EtherChannel are managed, but the capability module itself is an SNMP-agent development/conformance artifact rather than an operational monitoring tool. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the CISCO-PAGP-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-PAGP-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco switch running EtherChannel/PAgP
Monitoring Examples
This is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module with no runtime data objects of its own (no sample objects were present in the source), so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; actual PAgP channel status and configuration would be polled from the referenced CISCO-PAGP-MIB instead.
