Description: Declares SNMP agent capability statements for the CISCO-GGSN-MIB GPRS Gateway Support Node implementation on Cisco GGSN platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-GGSN-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-GGSN-CAPABILITY is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES module that formally declares which parts of CISCO-GGSN-MIB (the MIB governing GPRS Gateway Support Node functionality) a particular Cisco IOS/IOS-XE agent implementation supports. It belongs to Cisco's mobile/GPRS packet-core technology area, specifically the GGSN component that anchors mobile data sessions between a GPRS/UMTS radio network and external packet data networks. Rather than exposing any runtime data itself, it lists the object groups, variations, and compliance levels implemented by a given software release, so it does not directly provide hardware/software status information such as uptime, CPU, or session counts. Its sole dependency is on CISCO-GGSN-MIB, the data-bearing module it describes support for. It is used internally by SNMP management tools and NMS platforms to determine feature/version compatibility before attempting to poll or configure a Cisco GGSN device, rather than being polled directly for monitoring. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the CISCO-GGSN-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-GGSN-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples

This module contains only AGENT-CAPABILITIES statements and no runtime data objects, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; it is consulted by management applications to check which CISCO-GGSN-MIB groups a given software version implements, not polled for live values.
