Description: Provides management objects for service module configuration and status on Cisco UCS/Firepower chassis service module slots.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-FIREPOWER-SM-MIB?

CISCO-FIREPOWER-SM-MIB is part of Cisco's UCS/Firepower chassis management information model, covering the SM (service module/application management) package that tracks installed applications, their attributes, and associated finite-state-machine (FSM) task status on chassis service modules. It exposes application inventory tables, per-application attribute and attribute-value tables, and FSM tables recording the progress of application-related management tasks. Its monitoring relevance is chiefly software/process-status oriented: administrators can confirm which applications/services are installed and their configured attribute values, and use the FSM tables to detect stalled or failed application deployment/configuration tasks on the service module. It shares the DN/RN object model of the broader CISCO-FIREPOWER-*-MIB family, linking application entries to specific service-module instances. It is deployed on Cisco Firepower 9300 chassis service modules that host security applications (e.g. Firepower Threat Defense instances). Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the CISCO-FIREPOWER-SM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-FIREPOWER-SM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Firepower 9300 chassis service module

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll cfprSmAppTable/cfprSmAppEntry, keyed by cfprSmAppInstanceId, to inventory applications running on a service module, then check cfprSmAppAttributeTable/cfprSmAppAttributeEntry and cfprSmAppAttributeValueTable/cfprSmAppAttributeValueEntry to confirm an application's configuration attributes match expected values. Polling cfprSmAppFsmTable/cfprSmAppFsmEntry lets an operator detect an application deployment or update task that has stalled partway through, which would show up as unchanging FSM progress across repeated polls. This is a software-inventory and task-tracking view rather than a live traffic-counter MIB.

What Can Be Monitored

  • installed application inventory
  • application configuration attributes
  • application attribute values
  • application task FSM progress
