What Is CISCO-FIREPOWER-NWCTRL-MIB?

CISCO-FIREPOWER-NWCTRL-MIB is part of Cisco's UCS/Firepower chassis management information model, covering the NWCTRL package that manages network control policy governing adapter (NIC/HBA) behavior such as failover and forged-transmit settings on compute blades. It exposes card-configuration objects showing administrative and operational state, configuration state, and fault-aggregation status for network adapter cards, along with the fault-tolerant OIR (online insertion/removal) state. Its monitoring value spans both hardware and software status: administrators can confirm a network adapter card is administratively enabled and operationally up, watch for aggregated faults, and detect OIR events that indicate a card was physically removed or reseated. It shares the DN/RN object model of the CISCO-FIREPOWER-*-MIB family, tying network control state to specific adapter card instances. An administrator would poll cfprNwctrlCardConfigTable/cfprNwctrlCardConfigEntry, keyed by cfprNwctrlCardConfigInstanceId, comparing cfprNwctrlCardConfigAdminState to cfprNwctrlCardConfigOperState to confirm a network adapter card is up as expected, and checking cfprNwctrlCardConfigFltAggr for any aggregated fault flags. cfprNwctrlCardConfigOirState reveals whether the card was recently removed or reinserted (OIR event), which combined with an unexpected drop in cfprNwctrlCardConfigOperState would point to a card reseating or hardware failure. cfprNwctrlCardConfigModel identifies the specific adapter model in question.
