Description: Provides management objects for monitoring observations, threshold events, and trending data on Cisco UCS/Firepower platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-FIREPOWER-OBSERVE-MIB?

CISCO-FIREPOWER-OBSERVE-MIB is a Cisco MIB module modeling the "OBSERVE" management information package for Cisco Firepower/UCS-managed platforms, providing objects to configure observation filters, threshold events, and trending/statistics collection. It exposes filter-table objects that define which managed-object classes and properties are being observed or filtered (by class ID, distinguished name, and property values), forming a configuration layer for Cisco's UCS-style Firepower device model. Its monitoring role is indirect: rather than exposing raw hardware counters itself, it lets an operator configure which conditions (thresholds, filtered properties) should be watched, which then drive alerts about device or security-appliance conditions elsewhere in the Firepower management model. It depends on Cisco's shared UCS/Firepower object-naming and distinguished-name-based management information model used across other Cisco Firepower MIBs. It is deployed on Cisco Firepower security appliances (and related UCS-managed chassis) where administrators need configurable observation/threshold filtering for trending and event data. Engineers can download the CISCO-FIREPOWER-OBSERVE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-FIREPOWER-OBSERVE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Firepower security appliance
  • Cisco UCS-managed platform

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would inspect cfprObserveFilterTable/cfprObserveFilterEntry (indexed by cfprObserveFilterInstanceId) to review a configured filter's cfprObserveFilterDn and cfprObserveFilterFilterClassId, confirming which managed object class is being observed. Checking cfprObserveFilterFilterPropId1/cfprObserveFilterFilterPropValue1 alongside cfprObserveFilterAndOperation would reveal whether a filter is combining multiple property conditions correctly; a filter with an unexpected or empty property value would indicate a misconfigured observation rule that is silently failing to catch the intended condition.

What Can Be Monitored

  • observation filter configuration
  • filtered managed-object class
  • filter property conditions
  • filter logical operation (AND)
