Category: Cisco Devices, Telephony and VoIP, Textual Conventions and Registries

Description: Establishes textual conventions shared across Cisco H.323 VoIP MIBs, covering call types, endpoint types, and bandwidth values.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-H323-TC-MIB?

CISCO-H323-TC-MIB is a Cisco-proprietary Textual Convention (TC) module that defines a shared set of data types used by Cisco's H.323 VoIP MIBs, based on the ITU-T H.323.0 and H.225.0 recommendations. It exposes no runtime objects itself — its purpose is purely to define common types such as call types, endpoint types, and bandwidth value representations that other Cisco VoIP MIBs (e.g. call-control or gatekeeper MIBs) import and reuse. Because it defines no OIDs of its own, it plays no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status; its role is structural/definitional, standardizing how H.323-related values are encoded across dependent MIBs. It is entirely a dependency for other Cisco H.323/VoIP MIB modules, which import its textual conventions rather than redefining them. It is present on Cisco voice gateway and gatekeeper platforms that implement H.323-based VoIP call control. Engineers can download the CISCO-H323-TC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-H323-TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco voice gateway/gatekeeper (H.323 VoIP)

Monitoring Examples

This is a textual-conventions-only module with no runtime data objects of its own — no sample objects are provided — so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; other Cisco H.323 MIBs import its type definitions (e.g., for call/endpoint type and bandwidth values) when defining their own pollable objects.
