Description: Manages the Common Interface (CI) module slot on the Cisco DMN D9800 for conditional access card insertion and communication.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-DMN-DSG-CI-MIB?
CISCO-DMN-DSG-CI-MIB is a Cisco proprietary MIB for the Common Interface (CI) module slot on the D9800 satellite gateway, managing insertion and communication with conditional-access modules (CAM cards), part of the DMN DSG MIB family. It exposes configuration and status data: per-instance CI configuration (auto-reset behavior, query status, transport-stream ID handling) and a per-program decryption table listing elementary streams and their decryption entries. Its monitoring value covers both hardware and software module status — repeated auto-reset events indicate a failing CAM card, and missing or stale entries in the program decryption table reveal a program that is not being descrambled. It builds on the DVB Common Interface standard and works alongside CISCO-DMN-DSG-CA-MIB for the underlying conditional-access entitlement. It is deployed on D9800 satellite receivers with a physical CI/CAM card slot in broadcast headends. Engineers can download the CISCO-DMN-DSG-CI-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DMN-DSG-CI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco DMN D9800 digital satellite receiver with CI/CAM slot
Monitoring Examples
ciConfigTable/ciConfigEntry, indexed by ciConfigInstance, exposes ciConfigAutoReset and ciConfigQuery, letting an operator detect a CI module that keeps auto-resetting — a sign of a failing CAM card. ciProgramDecrTable/ciProgramDecrPEID lists per-program elementary-stream decryption entries, so a missing or stale PEID entry for an expected program indicates that program is not being descrambled correctly.
What Can Be Monitored
- CI module auto-reset events
- CI module query/communication status
- transport stream ID handling configuration
- per-program decryption table entries
